Important information for Swiss citizens not permanently resident in Australia:
The Swiss government recommends that Swiss travellers abroad return home as soon as possible. There are different commercial flights available (Qatar, Emirates, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines). Please check with your travel agent.
We advise all Swiss citizens in Australia to comply with the recommendations and regulations of the local authorities, the Department of Health and the Department of Home Affairs. Quarantine requirements for Switzerland
Please note that since the middle of June, there have been numerous instances of people infected with the new coronavirus entering Switzerland. As a consequence, people arriving in or returning to Switzerland from certain countries are required to go into quarantine. For further information and a list of the relevant countries, please consult the website of the Federal Office of Public Health: www.bag.admin.ch. Anyone who evades quarantine commits an offence under the Epidemics Act and may be fined up to CHF 10,000.

Swiss travelers - Entering and leaving Australia
For the newest information about entering and leaving Australia, please consult the following website of the Department of Home Affair, Travel Restriction Exemption Portal - for travellers to and from Australia” (https://travel-exemptions.homeaffairs.gov.au/tep). Please be aware that entry to Australia is currently only possible for Australian nationals and for permanent residents.
Swiss people living in Australia
The Consulate General of Switzerland in Sydney is currently open Monday to Thursday, 09.00 to 12.00 (closed on Friday) for normal business (passports, civil status, etc.). If you are not already registered with us, please get in touch and do so. We also urge everybody to consult our website and to follow the Facebook site of the Embassy and the Consulate General in order to receive any official messages. Please be aware that Australian citizens (which includes dual-nationals) and permanent residents need an exit exemption for travelling abroad: https://travel-exemptions.homeaffairs.gov.au/tep.
Visa for Switzerland
Swiss citizens can enter Switzerland at any time. All foreign nationals who are holders of a Swiss residency permit, a cross border permit or of a Legitimation Card, can enter Switzerland upon presentation of their valid residency permits.
