Bühler launches new fast-track training for service technicians.

Uzwil/Minneapolis/Raleigh - Bühler has established a new dual vocational training program. For this, customers will send service technicians to Bühler for a short time to complete further training. By closely integrating theory and practice in line with the Swiss model, Bühler aims to create new skilled workers in the USA as well.

According to a press release, Bühler AG is seeking to make the benefits of the Swiss vocational training system accessible for customers worldwide. This also applies to its newly developed learning format, which the technology group from the canton of St.Gallen is calling Vocational Fast Track.

This training is specifically targeted at service technicians. It allows client companies to send their employees to Bühler for a period of several weeks or months, where they can complete further training in modules focused on mechanics, mechatronics, project management and process technology. Every module concludes with a recognized Swiss certificate. “We bring the strengths of the Swiss dual education system – the close integration of theory and practice – into a compact and scalable format for industrial needs”, comments Irene Mark-Eisenring, Chief Human Resources Officer at Bühler.

Bühler expresses its conviction that the Swiss dual education system, upon which the new fast-track training is based, could play “a vital role” in solving current education and workforce challenges – “especially in the United States”, where around 1 million skilled jobs still reportedly need to be filled in industry.

“The US urgently needs scalable, cost-effective workforce development models”, says Tracy Bayer, Head of Human Resources North America at Bühler. The dual education system is “affordable, delivers high-quality skills, and creates a direct pathway into qualified jobs. With our Swiss-style apprenticeship program at the Bühler Apprentice Academy in North Carolina and Minnesota, we are showing how this can work in practice”, she adds.

Bühler’s US programs combine community college education with practical experience in real production environments at Bühler facilities. Graduates earn associate degrees and journeyman certificates, with many then moving into full-time roles at Bühler.

Bühler conducts training programs at 36 locations throughout Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Global training centers are located in Minneapolis, Raleigh, Johannesburg, Bengaluru, Žamberk and Curitiba, among other sites. ce/mm
