ABB is being tasked with electrifying the Sangachal Terminal, a natural gas processing and oil production plant in Azerbaijan. Connecting the plant to the country's power grid will allow the gas turbines to be decommissioned. To this end, ABB has received a major contract from the operating British oil and gas company bp.

In a symbolic gesture, Swiss International Air Lines has become the world’s first airline to use Zurich-based Synhelion's solar kerosene. The fuel came from a 190-liter barrel of solar crude produced at a German production facility and processed at a German refinery into certified Jet-A-1 aviation fuel.

Negotiators from Switzerland and the EU have initialled the agreement on Switzerland's participation in several EU programs. Horizon Europe, Euratom and Digital Europe have been open to participants from Switzerland since the beginning of the year, while ITER will follow in 2026 and Erasmus+ in 2027.

Washington - The USA has imposed additional tariffs of 10 percent on imports. Countries with a surplus in goods trade will pay more. The tariffs for Switzerland are the highest out of the countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), at 31 percent.

Ebikon/Vancouver - Schindler in the canton of Lucerne has been awarded the contract to provide lifts and escalators for the Canadian project Surrey Langley SkyTrain. Schindler will deliver 20 lifts and 40 escalators for eight new stations overall.
