Syngenta and SAP bringing AI tools to agriculture.
Syngenta and SAP have agreed a multiyear partnership. The Basel-based agricultural chemicals firm and the German software supplier intend to develop tools powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can be used across entire supply chains, from production through to the field.
Syngenta and SAP are joining forces with the aim of driving the adoption of Artificial Intelligence to transform the agricultural sector. To this end, the agricultural chemicals firm, which is headquartered in Basel, and the software developer from Walldorf in the German state of Hesse have agreed a multiyear partnership, as detailed in a statement.
This partnership provides for the use of AI-assisted tools along Syngenta’s entire value and supply chain. In this context, there will be a specific focus on advanced data analysis in relation to manufacturing on the one hand, and to user-side products and services on the other.
The collaboration can be seen as a response to the global challenges facing agriculture, such as climate change, supply chain complexity and geopolitical uncertainties. “AI is the catalyst for agricultural transformation and has quickly become a core competitive edge for Syngenta”, comments Feroz Sheikh, Chief Information and Digital Officer at the Syngenta Group. He goes on to state that the partnership with SAP will also transform the ways in which Syngenta is managed.
The two partners are focused on driving sustainable growth and efficiency in what is one of the global economy’s core sectors, according to Philipp Herzig. “Syngenta’s transformation sets a benchmark for digital innovation in agriculture”, as the CTO of SAP explains.
